John 3:3-7: "In reply Jesus
declared, 'I tell you the Truth, no one can see the kingdom
of God unless he is born again.' 'How can a man
be born when he is old?' Nicodemus asked. 'Surely he
cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be
born!' Jesus answered, 'I tell you the Truth, no
one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the
Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives
birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at My saying,
"You must be born again."'"
Acts 2:36-47:
[Peter said,] "'Therefore let all Israel be assured of
this: God has made this Jesus, Whom you crucified, both Lord and
Christ.' When the people heard this, they were cut to
the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles,
'Brothers, what shall we do?' Peter replied,
'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the Name of
Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your
children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord
our God will call.' With many other words he warned
them; and he pleaded with them, 'Save yourselves from this
corrupt generation.' Those who accepted his message
were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number
that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching
and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to
prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and
miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers
were together and had everything in common. Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.
They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and
sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the
people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were
being saved."
Galatians 3:26-29: "You are all
sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were
baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ,
then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the
promise."
Ephesians 2:14-18: "For He [Christ]
Himself is our peace, who has made the two [Jews and non-Jews, or
Gentiles] one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of
hostility, by abolishing in His flesh the law with its commandments
and regulations. His purpose was to create in Himself one new man
out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to
reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which He put to
death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who
were far away and peace to those who were near. For through
Him we both have access to the Father by One Spirit."
