Part IV--The Family Of God / The Body Of Christ

B. Lesson 20--The Name of Christ's Body

    28. READ: ROMANS 16:1-27

      c. What does God want all nations to do?

Answer: God wants all nations to believe and obey Him, (verse 26). This is accomplished by the revelation of the mystery of the Gospel (revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God) and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, (verses 25 and 26). (Romans 1:2: "the Gospel He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures....")

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Psalm 22:27-28: "All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before Him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and He rules over the nations."

Psalm 67:1-2: "May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us, that Your ways may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations."

Psalm 86:9-10: "All the nations You have made will come and worship before You, O Lord; they will bring glory to Your Name. For You are great and do marvelous deeds; You alone are God."

Psalm 96: "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His Name; bring an offering and come into His courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth. Say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns.' The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the Lord, for He comes, He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in His Truth."

Psalm 117:1-2: "Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol Him, all you peoples. For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever."

Isaiah 2:2-3: "In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.' The law will go out from Zion, the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem."

Daniel 7:13-14: "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into His presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed."

Matthew 24:14: [Jesus said,] "And this Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

Matthew 28:19-20: [Jesus said,] "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Mark 13:9: [Jesus said,] "And the Gospel must first be preached to all nations."

Luke 24:45-48: "Then He [Jesus] opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His Name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'"

Acts 1:8: [Jesus said,] "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Acts 13:46-47: "Then Paul and Barnabas answered them [the Jews] boldly: "We had to speak the Word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"

Romans 1:5-6: "Through Him and for His Name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ."

Romans 10:16-18: "But not all the Israelites accepted the Good News. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our message?' Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ. But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: 'Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their Words to the ends of the world.'"

Galatians 3:6-9: "Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.' Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the Gospel in advance to Abraham: 'All nations will be blessed through you.' So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith."

1 Timothy 3:16: "Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory."

Revelation 5:9: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain, and with Your blood You purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation."

Revelation 7:9-10: "After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: 'Salvation belongs to our God, Who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.'"

Revelation 14:6: "Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal Gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth--to every nation, tribe, language and people."

Revelation 15:4: "Who will not fear You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your Name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed."
