Answer: The Lord added to their number daily those who
were being saved, (verse 47).
MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
The Greek tense shows the Lord kept on adding.
The Lord, day by day, kept on adding together those who were being
saved. The daily activities of Christians resulted in daily
conversions. It is the LORD, not man, Who does the adding to
HIS kingdom, HIS body, HIS church. He keeps on adding to His
kingdom those who accept His message and who are baptized.
See again Acts 2:41. Those whom the LORD adds
to HIS kingdom/body/church are:
Those who do the Will of the Father:
Matthew 7:21: [Jesus said,] "Not everyone
who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the
kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the Will of My Father Who
is in heaven."
Those who are born of water and the Spirit:
John 3:5: "Jesus answered, 'I tell
you the Truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is
born of water and the Spirit.'"
Those who are obedient to the faith:
Acts 6:7: "So the Word of God spread. The
number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large
number of priests became obedient to the faith."
Those who are saved because of His mercy, saved
through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, who
have been justified by His grace: Titus
3:4-7: "But when the kindness and love of God
our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things
we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the
washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, Whom He poured
out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that,
having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having
the hope of eternal life."
Those who are saved by the power of God, which is
the message of the cross: 1 Corinthians
1:18: "For the message of the cross is
foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God." See also Romans
1:16-17 below.
Those who are saved by the Gospel AND hold firmly to
it, continually living by faith: Romans
1:16-17: "I am not ashamed of the Gospel,
because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who
believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the
Gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that
is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: 'The
righteous will live by faith.'" 1
Corinthians 15:1-2: "Now, brothers, I want to
remind you of the Gospel I preached to you, which you received and
on which you have taken your stand. By this Gospel you are
saved, IF you hold firmly to the Word I preached to you. Otherwise,
you have believed in vain."
