Merely introducing the "Lord Jesus," of course,
does not provide sufficient information to constitute the basis for
obedient faith; accordingly, they "spoke the Word of the Lord
to him, along with all who were in his house."
Doubtless the brethren told of the birth, teaching, miracles,
death, and resurrection of the Savior. There is a basic level of
Truth one must understand in order to be saved. Carefully
note that the message was proclaimed to "all" within
his household (slaves, family, etc.). This certainly does not
suggest "infants," as though this text provided some
evidence for infant baptism. J.H. Blunt, a cleric of the
Church of England, conceded: "Now it would appear from this
statement, that the baptized were those to whom the Word of the
Lord was preached, who assuredly were not infants"
(343-44; emp. in original).
