Part IV--The Family Of God / The Body Of Christ

D. Lesson 22--The Mission of Christ's Body

    2. READ: MATTHEW 26:17-29

      c. What was Jesus' blood poured out for?

Answer: Jesus' blood was poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins, (verse 28).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Mark 4:25-28: "Jesus called them [the disciples] together and said, 'You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.'"

Luke 24:46: "He [Jesus] told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His Name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.'"

Acts 2:38-39: "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call.'"

Acts 5:29-31: "Peter and the other apostles replied: 'We must obey God rather than men! The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead--Whom you had killed by hanging Him on a tree. God exalted Him to His Own right hand as Prince and Savior that He might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.'"

Acts 10:43: "All the prophets testify about Him [Jesus] that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His Name."

Acts 13:38: "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you."

Acts 26:15-18: "Then I asked, 'Who are you, Lord?' 'I am Jesus, Whom you are persecuting,' the Lord replied. 'Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of Me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'"

Romans 5:15: "But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the One Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!"

Ephesians 1:7: "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace..."

Colossians 1:13-14: "For He [God] has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
