7. READ: ACTS 2:1-47
c. How was Jesus accredited by God?
Answer: Jesus was accredited by God to the people by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among them through Him, (verse 22).
Quoting Ralphe Earle (Word Meanings In The New Testament): "Jesus' miracles were His divine credentials, proclaiming God's appointment of Him as the Messiah."
Of "miracles, wonders and signs," he also states:
These are the three words used to describe the miracles of Jesus. The first is dynamesi, "powers." The miracles demonstrated divine power. The second is terasi. Jesus' miracles struck the viewers with amazement and wonder. The third word, semeiois, indicates the significance of the miracles. They were "signs" of divine power, and also they symbolized some spiritual truth. That is why John in his Gospel always refers to Jesus' miracles as "signs."
John 3:2: "He [Nicodemus] came to Jesus at night and said, 'Rabbi, we know You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs You are doing if God were not with him.'"
John 4:48: [Jesus said,] "'Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders,' Jesus told him, 'you will never believe.'"
