Answer: God freed Jesus from the agony of death by
raising Him from the dead, because it was impossible for death to
keep its hold on Him, (verse 24).

John 20:3-9: "So Peter and the
other disciple [John] started for the tomb. Both were
running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb
first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen
lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was
behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of
linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around
Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the
linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb
first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did
not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the
dead.)"

Acts 13:26-37: "Brothers, children
of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this
message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem
and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning Him
they fulfilled the Words of the prophets that are read every
Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death
sentence, they asked Pilate to have Him executed. When they
had carried out all that was written about Him, they took Him down
from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from
the dead, and for many days He was seen by those who had traveled
with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now His witnesses to
our people. We tell you the Good News: What God promised our
fathers He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up
Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: 'You are
My Son; today I have become your Father.' The fact that
God raised Him from the dead, never to decay, is stated in these
Words: 'I will give You the holy and sure blessings
promised to David.' So it is stated elsewhere:
'You will not let Your Holy One see decay.' For
when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell
asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed.
But the One Whom God raised from the dead did not see
decay."
Acts 17:31: "For He [God] has set a
day when He will judge the world with justice by the man He has
appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising Him
from the dead."
Romans 6:4: "We were therefore
buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as
Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we
too may live a new life."
Romans 8:11: "And if the Spirit of
Him Who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He Who raised
Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies
through His Spirit, Who lives in you."
Romans 10:8-10: "But what does it
say? 'The Word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your
heart,' that is, the Word of faith we are proclaiming:
That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,'
and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are
justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are
saved."
1 Corinthians 6:14: "By His power
God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us
also."
1 Corinthians 15:12-20: "But if it
is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some
of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If
there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been
raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is
useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then
found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about
God that He raised Christ from the dead. But He did not raise Him
if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not
raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ
has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your
sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are
lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to
be pitied more than all men. But Christ has indeed been
raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen
asleep."
Ephesians 1:18-21: "I pray also
that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you
may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His
glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great
power for us who believe. That power is like the working of His
mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from
the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms,
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every
title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in
the one to come."
Colossians 2:12: "having been
buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith
in the power of God, Who raised Him from the dead."
Hebrews 13:20-21: "May the God of
peace, Who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back
from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,
equip you with everything good for doing His Will, and may He work
in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be
glory for ever and ever. Amen."
1 Peter 1:21: "Through Him [Christ]
you believe in God, Who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him,
and so your faith and hope are in God."
