Deuteronomy 32:4-6: "He is the
Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A
faithful God Who does no wrong, upright and just is He. They
have acted corruptly toward Him; to their shame they are no longer
His children, but a warped and crooked generation. Is this
the way you repay the Lord, O foolish and unwise people? Is
He not your Father, your Creator, Who made you and formed
you?"
Philippinas 2:14-16: "Do everything
without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless
and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved
generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you
hold out the Word of life--in order that I may boast on the
day of Christ that I did not run or labor for
nothing."
From
The Acts of the Apostles From Jerusalem to Rome by Wayne
Jackson:
With an urgent "invitation," Peter exhorted (the
imperfect tense denotes repetitive action [continually exhorted]):
"Save yourselves from this crooked generation."
The verb [save] is an imperative mood (command), passive voice,
literally, "let yourselves be saved." The command
mood shows that a human response is essential; the passive voice
reveals that it is God Who must do the ultimate saving. One
is saved from the destiny of a crooked (perverse)
generation.
