MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
The resurrection of the children of God to eternal life
terminates death's power over them:
Luke 20:35-36: "But those who are
considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the
resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in
marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels.
They are God's children, since they are children of the
resurrection."
1 Corinthians 15:55-56:
"'Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O
death, is your sting?' The sting of death is sin, and
the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives
us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Hebrews 2:14-15: "Since the
children have flesh and blood, He [Christ] too shared in their
humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the
power of death--that is, the devil--and free those who
all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of
death."
Revelation 20:11-15: "Then I saw a
great white throne and Him Who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled
from His presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw
the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books
were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life.
The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in
the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and
death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person
was judged according to what he had done. Then death and
Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the
second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the
book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
