Part IV--The Family Of God / The Body Of Christ

F. Lesson 24--The Destiny of Christ's Body

    4. READ: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-10

      e. What will each of us receive?

Answer: Each one of us will receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad, (verse 10).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Psalm 62:11-12: "One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that You, O God, are strong, and that You, O Lord, are loving. Surely You will reward each person according to what he has done."

Proverbs 11:18: "The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward."

Proverbs 19:17: "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done."

Proverbs 25:21-22: "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you."

Isaiah 40:10: "See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and His arm rules for Him. See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him."

Jeremiah 17:10: "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

Jeremiah 32:18b, 19: "O great and powerful God, Whose Name is the Lord Almighty, great are Your purposes and mighty are Your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; You reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve."

Matthew 5:11-12: [Jesus said,] "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Matthew 6:1-6: [Jesus said,] "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the Truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the Truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, Who is unseen. Then your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Matthew 16:27: [Jesus said,] "For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done."

Acts 10:42: "He [Jesus] commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the One Whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead."

Romans 2:5-8, 16: "But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when His righteous judgment will be revealed. God 'will give to each person according to what he has done.' To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the Truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger...This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my Gospel declares."

Romans 14:10b, 12: "For we will all stand before God's judgment seat...So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God."

1 Corinthians 4:5: "Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God."

Ephesians 6:7-8: "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free."

Revelation 20:11-15: "Then I saw a great white throne and Him Who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

Revelation 22:12-13: [Jesus said,] "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."
