Part IV--The Family Of God / The Body Of Christ

F. Lesson 24--The Destiny of Christ's Body

    8. READ: 2 THESSALONIANS 2:13-17 AND 2 THESSALONIANS 3:1-5

      e. From whom will our faithful Lord protect us?

Answer: Our faithful Lord will strengthen and protect us from the evil one, (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Matthew 6:13: [Jesus said,] "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

Luke 22:31-32 [Jesus said,] "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

John 17:14-17: [Jesus prayed,] "I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth."

Acts 26:13-18: "About noon, O king, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.' Then I asked, 'Who are you, Lord?' 'I am Jesus, Whom you are persecuting,' the Lord replied. 'Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of Me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'"

Romans 16:19-20: "Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you."

Ephesians 6:16: "In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one."

2 Timothy 2:24-26: "And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the Truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will."

Hebrews 2:14-15, 18: "Since the children have flesh and blood, He [Christ] too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death... Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted."

James 3:13-18: "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such 'wisdom' does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness."

James 4:7: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

1 Peter 5:8-10: "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, Who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast."

1 John 5:18-20: "We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One Who was born of God [Jesus, the Son of God] keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him Who is True. And we are in Him Who is True--even in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the True God and Eternal Life."
