Christ is called the "image of God" here and in 2 Corinthians 4:4 ("The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God.")
In Hebrews 1:3 He is described as the "radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being."
This figure of the image suggests two Truths: (1) God is invisible ["no one has ever seen God," John 1:18]; (2) Christ, Who is the eternal Son of God and Who became the God-man, reflects and reveals Him:
John 1:18: "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, Who is at the Father's side, has made Him known."
John 14:9: "Jesus answered: ‘Don't you know Me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'?"
1 Timothy 1:17: "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the Only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
