Part I--The Character Of Jesus Christ Our Lord

B. Lesson 2 -- Jesus Is The Creator Of The Universe

    3. READ: HEBREWS 1:1-2 AND HEBREWS 1:10-12

      c. Will this earth last forever?

Answer: No. The earth and heavens will perish. They will all wear out like a garment. God will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed, (verses 11 and 12).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Isaiah 34:4: "All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree."

Isaiah 51:6: "Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But My salvation will last forever, My righteousness will never fail."

Hebrews 12:25-28: "See to it that you do not refuse Him Who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused Him Who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him Who warns us from heaven? At that time His voice shook the earth, but now He has promised, ‘Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.' The words ‘once more' indicate the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things--so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire.'"
