Part I--The Character Of Jesus Christ Our Lord

D. Lesson 4--Jesus Is The Teacher Of The Nations

    14. READ: JOHN 7:11-18

      c. Where did Jesus' teaching come from?

Answer: Jesus explained that His teaching did not come from Himself. He told the Jews that His teaching came from the One Who had sent Him. Jesus further stated that anyone who chooses to do the Will of God will find out whether His teaching came from God, or whether He was speaking on His Own. The test of this would be: Was Jesus speaking on His Own to bring honor to Himself, or was He working for the honor of the One Who sent Him? If Jesus was working for the honor of God, then He truly was a man of Truth. There would be nothing false in the teachings of Jesus, and there would be nothing false in the reason He taught, (verses 16, 17 and 18).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Psalm 25:14: "The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them."

John 5:41-44: [Jesus said,] "I do not accept praise from men, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in My Father's Name, and you do not accept Me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the Only God?"

John 8:50: [Jesus said,] "I am not seeking glory for Myself; but there is One Who seeks it, and He is the judge."

John 8:54-55: "Jesus replied, ‘If I glorify Myself, My glory means nothing. My Father, Whom you claim as your God, is the One Who glorifies Me. Though you do not know Him, I know Him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His Word.'"
