PART III--The Way Of Serving God In Christ Jesus

A. Lesson 13--We Serve By Worshipping

    5. READ: 1 CORINTHIANS 10:31

      a. What should we do for God's glory?

Answer: Whatever a child of God does--all things that we do--should be done for the glory of God, (verse 31).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

John 11:40: "Then Jesus said, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?'"

2 Corinthians 1:20: "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes' in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God."

1 Peter 4:11: "If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very Words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

      • We have the knowledge of the glory of God in the person--the face--of Jesus Christ, Who became like us and lived among us:
        • 2 Corinthians 4:4-6: "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,' made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."

      • 2 Corinthians 4:13-15 says that we should overflow with thanksgiving to the glory of God because we will be raised with Christ and presented before God:
        • "It is written: ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.' With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the One Who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God."

      • Philippians 1:9-11 lists some of the things that children of God do to the praise and glory of God:
        • "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God."

      • It is certain and sure that ALL--believers and unbelievers--will eventually bend their knees and bow before Jesus, and every tongue will confess that He is Lord, to the glory of God the Father, Philippians 2:5-11.
