A. Lesson 13--We Serve By Worshipping

7. READ: HEBREWS 13:15-16

a. What should we do "continually"?

Answer: God's children should continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise. Because we have confessed His Name, our praise to Him is part of the "fruit" that we produce in our Christian lives, (verse 15).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

• "Sacrifice" here is used metaphorically (a figure of speech, a comparison) to represent an offering to God (See Romans 12:1 and Philippians 4:18).

There are no longer animal sacrifices. God's children offer themselves and all that they do, say, think, etc., as offerings to God--a sacrifice with which He is pleased.

• Concerning these sacrifices:

1 Peter 2:5-6: "you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

• Concerning the "fruit of our lips":

Hosea 14:2: "Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him: ‘Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.'"

• God is deserving of our constant praise because He saved us through the blood of His One and Only Son.
