    8. READ: PHILIPPIANS 4:14-19

      b. What will God do for people who please Him?

        Answer: God will meet all the needs of people who please Him. He does this according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus, (verse 19).

        MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
      • Notice that God will meet all the NEEDS of people who please Him. It does not say that God will meet all of a believers wishes, wants, desires, etc., for worldly things, thus fulfilling self gratification:
        • I Timothy 6:6-11: "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness."

          This is the believer who pleases God.

      • God will meet all the needs of those who please Him:
        • Psalm 23:1: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want."

          2 Corinthians 9:8: "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

      • God meets these needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus:
        • Romans 2:4 stresses what the riches of God's kindness, tolerance and patience lead us to: "Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?"

      • This is the true measure of God's blessings to the church:
        • Ephesians 1:18: "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints..."

          Ephesians 3:16-20: "I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
