God speaking to us by His Son in these last days is in sharp contrast to God speaking to people in the past through many prophets at many times and in many (various) ways. The time was right for God Himself to appear, coming in human form, letting us see Him and hear His very Words, dying for us and then going to prepare a place for those who believe and obey Him--an offering of God Himself given ONE time for ALL people. All was now fulfilled.
Hebrews 9:26b-28: "But now He [Christ] has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him."
1 Peter 3:18: "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God."
