8. READ: EPHESIANS 6:18-20

b. What should we pray in?

Answer: We should pray in the Spirit, (verse 18).

• In Ephesians 6:17, we are told to "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."

And then we are told in verse 18 to "pray in the Spirit on all occasion." We must remember that the battle that we fight is spiritual and must be fought IN God's strength, depending on the Word and on God through prayer:

Ephesians 6:12: "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

• When we pray IN the Spirit, this is how the Spirit helps us:

Romans 8:26-27: "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He Who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's Will."
