D. Lesson 16--We Serve By Being Holy

1. READ: 1 PETER 1:13-16

[1 Peter 1:13] "Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. [14] As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. [15] But just as He Who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; [16] for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy,'" [Leviticus 11:44-45; Leviticus 19:2; Leviticus 20:7].

NOTE: The word "holy" here means "separated from evil and devoted to good". God demands that His children be separated from the world and devoted to Him, being holy in our actions, just as He is holy. Thus, God's children become "saints," or "the sanctified ones," or "holy ones."
