The Gift of Eternal Life Berean Bible Study Course

PART III--The Way Of Serving God In Christ Jesus

D. Lesson 16--We Serve By Being Holy

    20. READ: 1 JOHN 5:18-21

      d. Where do we have eternal life?

Answer: Children of God have eternal life in Him Who is True--even in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the True God and Eternal Life, (verse 20).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Psalm 16:11: "You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand."

Matthew 19:29: [Jesus said,] "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for My sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life."

John 3:14-16: [Jesus said,] "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:35-36: [Jesus said,] "The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in His hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

John 4:14: [Jesus said,] "but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

John 5:24: [Jesus said,] "I tell you the Truth, whoever hears My Word and believes Him Who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

John 5:39-40: [Jesus said,] "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to Me to have Life."

John 6:27: [Jesus said,] "Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval."

John 6:40: [Jesus said,] "For My Father's Will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 6:54: [Jesus said,] "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 6:68-69: "Simon Peter answered Him [Jesus], ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.'"

John 10:27-30: [Jesus said,] "My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and the Father are One."

John 12:47-50: [Jesus said,] "As for the person who hears My Words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not accept My Words; that very Word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. For I did not speak of My Own accord, but the Father Who sent Me commanded Me what to say and how to say it. I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told Me to say."

John 17:1-3: "After Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed: ‘Father, the time has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You. For You granted Him authority over all people that He might give eternal life to all those You have given Him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the Only True God, and Jesus Christ, Whom You have sent.'"

Romans 2:7: "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life."

Romans 6:22-23: "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

1 Timothy 6:12: "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

Titus 3:4-7: "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, Whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

1 John 1:2: "The Life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the Eternal Life, Which was with the Father and has appeared to us."

1 John 2:24-25: "See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what He promised us--even eternal life."

1 John 5:11-13: "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this Life is in His Son. He who has the Son has Life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have Life. I write these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Jude 1:20-21: "But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
