Answer: We, like Christ, must entrust ourselves to Him Who judges justly, (verse 23).
MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
- We must entrust ourselves to God, just as Christ did:
Luke 23:46: "Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.' When He had said this, He breathed His last."
The word "entrust" does not mean a one-time surrender to God. It means here that Jesus "kept on entrusting Himself" to God. He thus handed Himself and His cause over to the Father, Who judges righteously.
- God always judges justly:
Job 21:22: "Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges even the highest?"
Psalm 9:4: "For You have upheld my right and my cause; You have sat on Your throne, judging righteously."
2 Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing."
Hebrews 4:12-13: "For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to Whom we must give account."
- Consider also the following:
Psalm 111:7: "The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy."
Romans 3:22-26: "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished--He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the One Who justifies those who have faith in Jesus."
2 Thessalonians 1:6-7: "God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with His powerful angels."
1 John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Revelation 15:3: "Great and marvelous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are Your Ways, King of the ages."
Revelation 16:5-7: "Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: ‘You are just in these judgments, You Who are and Who were, the Holy One, because You have so judged; for they have shed the blood of Your saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink as they deserve.' And I heard the altar respond: ‘Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are Your judgments.'"
