Part II--The Process Of Reconciliation With God

D. Lesson 10--We Must Be Washed Free Of All Sins

    1. READ: 1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-11

      b. Who were washed, sanctified and justified?

Answer: People who were washed, sanctified and justified by the blood of Jesus Christ are people who WERE IN THE PAST wicked. They include people who used to be sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexual offenders, thieves, greedy, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers, (verses 9, 10 and 11).

NOTE: The word "washed" here means "cleansed by immersion."
The word "sanctified" here means "separated from sin for service to God."
The word "justified" here means "made righteous."

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Read again Galatians 5:19-20 and Romans 1:18-32 for additional sins committed by the wicked--those who will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But because of hearing the Good News of the Gospel of Christ, having faith that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came to save the unrighteous, repenting of past sins and changing their lives, confessing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and being washed (baptized) in, through and with Christ, those who were once wicked and living in sin have risen to a new life. They are sanctified--made pure and set apart for holy use by God--and they are justified--made right in the eyes of God--by the sacrificial offering of Jesus Christ for THEIR sins. They have been washed clean by the blood of Christ, and they now stand in the kingdom of God.
