Answer: The members of Christ's one body (His church) are called to peace--the peace of Christ, which should rule in our hearts, (verse 15).

• In John 14:27, Jesus says:

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

• Romans 14:19 says of the members of Christ's body:

"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification."

• And Romans 12:18 says:

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

• James says of peace-loving Christians--those who are peacemakers:

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness," James 3:17-18.
