Answer: Christians should be wise in the way we act toward outsiders. We need to make the most of every opportunity, (verse 5).
MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
Ephesians 5:15-16: "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."
Mark 4:11: [Jesus said,] "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables..."
In the New Testament, "secret" refers to something God has revealed to His people. The secret--that which was previously unknown--is proclaimed to all, but only those who have faith understand. Those who do not have faith only hear "parables." A parable is a narrative or saying dealing with earthly things with a spiritual meaning. The hearer must catch the analogy--the comparison--if he is to be spiritually instructed. This can be done only by faith. Christians need to be wise enough to see the opportunities of winning those outside of Christ to Him by spreading the Gospel. If those outside of Christ hear this Gospel and see it in our lives, they have the opportunity to have faith and obey, or not have faith--be spiritually blind--and remain in the world.
