Part II--The Process Of Reconciliation With God
F. Lesson 12--We Must Be Faithful In Serving The Lord
15. READ: COLOSSIANS 1:24-29
a. What is God's "mystery?"
Answer: The "mystery" that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints--God's children, the believers--is the Word of God in its fullness, meaning, CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory, (verses 25, 26 and 27).
MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
- In Ephesians 5:32, Paul says that this relationship between Christ and His church--God's children--is a profound mystery.
- Hebrews 4:12
says of the Word of God: "For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
- Paul says of the mystery of the Word of God in its fullness (that being "Christ in you"), and the reason for its revelation:
"Now to Him Who is able to establish you by my Gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey Him--to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen," Romans 16:25-27.
- Of "Christ in you," Paul says in Romans 8:10-11:
"But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, Who lives in you."
