Part II--The Process Of Reconciliation With God

F. Lesson 12--We Must Be Faithful In Serving The Lord

    16. READ: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:58 AND 1 CORINTHIANS 16:13-14

      c. What should we be men of?

Answer: Christians should be men of courage and strength, always being on our guard and standing firm in the faith, (1 Corinthians, chapter 16, and verse 13.)

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
      • God keeps His children strong to the end:
        • 1 Corinthians 1:8-9: "He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, Who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful."

      • We are to stand firm in Christ:
        • 2 Corinthians 1:21-22: "Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."

Galatians 5:1: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

      • We must have courage and strength to stand firm for the Gospel:
        • Philippians 1:27-30: "Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the Gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved--and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for Him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have."

      • Christians may know how to be strong, where our "power source" is from, and how we may be equipped with this power to stand firm against the devil's plots and plans:
        • Ephesians 6:10-18: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of Truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."
