Answer: The person who hears the Word of Jesus and believes God, Who sent Jesus, has eternal life. That person has crossed over from the eternal death and condemnation of living in the world of sin and darkness to living in the light and life and Truth that is Jesus Christ, (verse 24).

"HAS eternal life" is what is NOW possessed by the one who hears the Word of Jesus and believes Him Who sent Jesus. Faith (belief) and life (eternal life) are always connected:
