Part II--The Process Of Reconciliation With God

B. Lesson 8--We Must Acknowledge That Jesus Is Our Lord

    2. READ: PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11

      a. After Jesus died, what did God do to Him?

Answer: After Jesus died, completing the Will of God, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every name, (verse 9).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Acts 5:30-32: "The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead--Whom you had killed by hanging Him on a tree. God EXALTED Him to His Own right hand as Prince and Savior that He might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, Whom God has given to those who obey Him."

Acts 5:41: "The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the NAME. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the Good News that Jesus is the Christ."

      • This Name, "Jesus," is more than just His proper name. It is everything that He is--His office or rank given to Him by God--His glorious position.
        • Ephesians 1:20-21 says that God seated Jesus at His right hand in the heavenly realms "far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come."

Hebrews 1:4-5 says of Jesus, "So He became as much superior to the angels as the Name He has inherited is superior to theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, ‘You are My Son; today I have become Your Father'? Or again, ‘I will be His Father, and He will be My Son'?"
