Part II--The Process Of Reconciliation With God

C. Lesson 9--We Must Turn Away From Sinful Behavior

    3. READ: ACTS 3:17-26

      c. How does God bless people through Jesus?

Answer: God blesses people through Jesus by turning them from their wicked ways, (verse 26).

MORE INFORMATION AND/OR OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

God has always sought that people should turn from their wicked ways, and He has always promised blessings to those who do so:

2 Chronicles 7:14: [God said,] "if My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Jeremiah 35:15: [God tells His people,] "Again and again I sent all My servants the prophets to you. They said, ‘Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your fathers.' But you have not paid attention or listened to Me."

In Jeremiah 36:7, the prophet Jeremiah says of God's people, "Perhaps they will bring their petition before the Lord, and each will turn from his wicked ways, for the anger and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great."

In Ezekiel 36:31-32, God says again to His people, "Then you will remember your evil ways and wicked deeds, and you will loathe yourselves for your sins and detestable practices. I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign Lord. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, O house of Israel!"
