  • Baptism - The Jewish Background of Christian Baptism (Mikveh)
    An article by Ron Moseley, Ph. D., provided by the Arkansas Institute of Holy Land Studies. This is a study of the Jewish background of Christian baptism. The child of God will appreciate even more the beauty of the cleansing by water and blood that is baptism. NOTE: It is regrettable that Dr. Mosely's "Summary" states that "the convert could repent and have a part in the life to come without it (baptism)." It is difficult to believe that such a conclusion could be reached after this kind of in-depth study of baptism. Of course, you will have your Bible open as you read this article. See especially John 3:1-21.

    This is the King James Version of the Bible with over 3,200,000 links onsite to over 161,000 pages of concordances (including interlinear Hebrew or Greek, as well as Septuagint Greek for the Old Testament--a table is displayed with each word linked to both English and Strong's concordances), lexicons, dictionaries, commentaries (including audio/video commentaries), images, maps and Bible versions (with more to be added). If you go into commentaries or parts of the site that deal with theological questions, have an open Bible and use much caution.

    A quarterly publication for the purpose of defending the faith. It is a debate journal and includes: current and back issues; current and previous debates. "You will find articles ranging from Bible inerrancy to internal issues in the church. Both sides are presented fairly in this journal because the other side is allowed to write their own articles."

    When you reach the home page of this site, click on "World Wide Study Bible." To quote from Juno E-mail, "This is an online study Bible that will prove incredibly useful to amateur and academic theologians alike. What the guide does is list every book in the Bible (Old Testament, New Testament, and Apocrypha), and for each one it provides a hyperlink that takes you to a page listing sites from all over the Web that are relevant to that book: different versions of the text, sermons, concordances, links to archaeological and historical information, and much more." The also site contains links to other books that are in the public domain in the United States (no copyright). As usual, use caution, common sense, discretion, a thorough knowledge of God's Word and have your Bible open--and use it!

There is a constantly changing message board called "Shout Outs" for kids to leave messages.     This is the site of the Biblical Studies Foundation. When you enter this site, click on "NET Bible" in the right-hand upper corner. You can access any portion of Scripture, see the text, click on the blue numbered footnotes (superscript numbers) in the Text Window and read the "translator's and study notes" in the Notes Window below the text. The translator's and study notes are explanations of different possible translations and rationale for the preferred translation as well as study notes on selected passages. To quote from the site: "The NET Bible (New English Translation) is a completely new translation of the Bible, not a revision or an update of a previous English version. It is being completed by more than twenty biblical scholars who are working directly from the best currently available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. According to a recent survey, it is the second most widely read publication among churches of Christ. They endeavor to deal with themes of current interest and need, and always seek to maintain a three-fold emphasis: balanced, conservative and biblical. Current subscription to and back issues of The Spiritual Sword publication are available. Getwell church of Christ also hosts the annual Spiritual Sword Lectureship. Lectureship books and the current lectureship schedule are available.   • Truth For Today World Mission School - Bible Courses
    "All of the materials at our site are provided simply to help you in your search for truth and understanding of the Bible, and your efforts to teach others about Jesus Christ." Click "Bible Lessons" on the Home Page. Then click "Go to the Bible Lessons Database," click "List All" and see a description of each of the more than 1,000 Bible lessons online.     A free monthly publication in hard copy or on the Internet at this site. It is a publication of the East High Street church of Christ and the West Side church of Christ, Springfield, Ohio, USA. As stated on their site, "The primary aim of Upon the Rock is the publishing of material concerning ‘first principles' and evangelism. Mike Scott, minister of the Mt. Vernon church of Christ in Prescott, is the "answer" host. Bible questions and answers from the program can be heard in RealAudio. They also appear in printed text form. There are also feature articles, online books to read and/or download and copy, a cappella singing which can be heard in RealAudio, and more.

  • "Why I Am A Member Of The Church Of Christ"
    A series of 26 excellently prepared lessons to help ground us in the Truth of the Bible, and what it declares about us as members of the Lord's body, IF WE STUDY GOD'S WORD AND PUT IT INTO PRACTICE!! The lessons are complete with Bible passages inserted (King James Version). These lessons were developed for the Sunday morning class at the East Huntsville church of Christ by William (Bill) Cantrell. He is the Minister of the Huntsville church of Christ located in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. He acknowledges consultation of the book Why I Am A Member of the Church of Christ by Leroy Brownlow during the preparation of these lessons. To quote from the site: "In times such as today, with so many ideas, false doctrines and propaganda so prevalent, it is extremely important that we get a firm grip on who we are and what we believe and stand for. The Church cannot hope to grow stronger if we are ignorant of these basic facts." Bill Cantrell's objective in this endeavor has been the glorification of God and the edification of man.
