A Brief Biography
Of
Mack Lyon
(As of October, 2003)

Mack Lyon committed his life to preaching the Gospel at age 14 and preached his first sermon three years later on Sunday night, November 12, 1939, while still in high school.  From the first sermon, he has rarely missed a Sunday preaching somewhere.  He has always been in demand for Gospel meetings and lectureships.

He has lived and worked with local churches in Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas and New Jersey.  He was a missionary in Western Australia in the 1960’s.  He has traveled and preached extensively in the Far and Middle East, in Russia and Eastern Europe and is widely used for lectures and events by churches, universities and civic organizations here in the States.

Mack Lyon is best known for his work with the SEARCH television program the last twenty years.  When he committed his life to preaching the Gospel, he also committed himself to the use of mass media.  He has been a pioneer in preaching over both radio and television.

He began the IN SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY television program in September, 1980, on one small TV station in Oklahoma.  It is currently being seen on 90 TV stations and on some 134 community cable systems, as well as being heard on 27 radio stations in the U.S.  It is also carried several times a week to the entire North American Continent, from the northernmost tip of Alaska to the Caribbean, by two satellite networks, INSPIRATIONAL and FAMILYNET.  In addition, the program is audio and video streamed on the internet to every nation in the world.  SEARCH has received two NIELSON AWARDS for the largest audience for a religious program on the ACTS NETWORK.

In addition to his preaching on radio and TV, and a demanding travel schedule to preach in person all across the country, Mack has also authored a number of books, including one titled, The Glorious Gospel.  Titles of other books by Mack Lyon are:  Did You Miss The Rapture; Life, Death, and Beyond; Paul’s Sermon on Mars’ Hill

He lives with his wife, Lois, in Edmond, Oklahoma, and is a member of the Edmond church of Christ, whose elders oversee his work.
