Now, a person says, “It doesn’t make any difference!” Where do you read that in the Bible? Where do you read, “It doesn’t matter what you do in religion?” Do you not understand that Jesus said we are to worship in spirit AND in Truth, John 4:24 [“God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in Truth.”]? And to worship God in Truth is to worship God according to what is set forth in the Bible. Does it make any difference?
“Does it make any difference whether you sprinkle water, or immerse, in baptism?”
“No, doesn’t make any difference to me.”
“Does it make any difference to God?”
“Oh, no.”
“Well, then, where does He tell us to sprinkle water on babies and call that ‘baptism’?”
“Well, we don’t want to ‘split hairs.’”
“Nobody’s splitting hairs! The word is S I N G, not hair!!”
Now the Bible teaches the church to SING. That’s what we do. There’s no teaching of God to play instrumental music in the worship of the church today. And that’s what people are doing. Sometimes, they do it in groups that do what they call “vocal band activities,” using their mouths to imitate some of the sounds of instrumental music, and try to play like they are pulling the wool over folks’ eyes. No! They’re just demonstrating that they don’t have any authority from God to do what they do, AND they don’t care that they don’t have any.
Now, down the road…down the road that says, “I don’t care whether the Bible teaches me to do this or not, I’m going to do it anyway,”—down that road lies every form of religious error. And it has been introduced and still is present, and more will follow in its wake.
